To add Recommended Items, simply choose your preference level from the drop down menu labeled “—Add to my List—“ when you come across an item that you would like to add. When you select your preference and let go of your mouse, the item will be added to your list. Your preference options are “Have it,” “Wouldn’t Mind it,” “Would be nice to have,” “Would make me happy,” “I would really, really like this,” and “I’d love to get this.”

No. The Ultimate Checklist is your list. You should personalize your list and make it your own. We aim to help students who need direction in preparing for dorm living. If the items our dorm experts have recommended do not fit your needs, you can Add Your Own Items that do. See below for directions on how to do this.

To Add Your Own Items, go to the Add Your Own section, on the right side of the page, below the Recommended Items. Fill in as much information about the item as you can to help you when reviewing your list or so your Givers will know what exactly to get, from where, and how much it will cost. If your item comes in different sizes or colors, be sure to specify what you want in the comments section. You can add a link to show where this item can be bought. When adding a link, be sure to click the blue and white plus sign on the right. When you have added as much info as you can, click the “Add Item” button below and it will be added to your list!

Find the Item on your list that you would like to edit by clicking on the categories and headers. Once you have found the item, you will see the options to Remove that item and to Edit your preferences for that item. Click on the drop-down menu to alter your preferences.

You can also click the "Edit" button to edit, add, or remove the title, price, description, and links. You also have the option to add comments to specify size, color, quantity, or even to declare how badly you want that particular item. It’s your list, so say what you want!

Find the Item on your list that you would like to remove by clicking on the categories and headers. Once you have found the item, you will see the options to Remove that item and to Edit your preferences for that item. Click on the "Remove" button and the item will disappear from your list.

When logged into your Ultimate Checklist, go to your list. At the top of your list, below the “Ultimate Gift List” heading, there is an option to "Click here to get a printable summary of your items." When you click there, you will see the list of items you have selected, along with how strong your preference is for receiving that item and its price. If you click on the item, you will see it full description and any comments you may have added. You will also have the option to print this list by clicking on "Print this list."

When logged into your Ultimate Checklist, go to your list and choose the "Click here to get a printable summary of your items." Once you see the summary of your items, you will have the option to "Print this list." Click on this and a message will be sent to your printer. Make sure your printer is plugged in!

Once you have completed your Ultimate Checklist, you can send it out to your family and friends as your Ultimate Gift List. To do this, click on the green Distribute tab on the top right.

You can either copy and paste the link provided in an email or Add Givers by providing their name, email address, and a personal message (if you wish). Your Givers will receive an email inviting them "Hook Up (your name here)'s Dorm" and they will be able to view your Ultimate Gift List.

Once Givers have been added, you will be able to view what items they have committed to and what items they have purchased. You can view this under the green Distribute tab on the top right.

Click on the link at the bottom of the email to review your friend or family member's Ultimate Gift List. You will be able to see the names of each product, how much your friend or family member would like to receive this item, and how much the item costs. To read more about each product, click on the title of the item and the product description, a link to where you can buy the item, and comments from your friend or family member will appear.

When you have found an item you would like to buy for your friend or family member, click on the box next to "I will give this item" to sign up as the Gift Giver. The item you have committed to buy will then turn blue. Once you have purchased the item, click on the box next to "I have purchased this item" to update this registry list.

The items on the list will be from varying online retail sites. If your friend or family member has chosen a Recommended Item from one of our dorm experts, then a link will be provided to connect you directly to the Internet retailer. Some online retailers have physical stores as well, so you may be able to find the product in the stores. Some products are available exclusively online, so be sure to check specific products before you waste the gas!

Your friend and family member has the option to leave comments or add links to share where you can buy this product. If they haven't done this, try going to Froogle.com and typing in the product name!

After you click on the link, review the items on the Ultimate Wish List. Initially you will see the name of each product, how much it costs, and how much your friend or family member would like to receive this item. To read more about each product, click on the title of the item and the product description, a link to where you can buy the item, and comments from your friend or family member will appear.

Once you have purchased the item, click on the box next to "I have purchased this item" to update this registry list so your friend or family member can be up to date on his/her needed items.
